Opening 26th March 2026 during the week of Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, the exhibition will be on view until 26th July, 2026. Known for his raw, humorous, and deeply personal visual language, Agha’s work fuses echoes of Persian academic traditions with a contemporary irreverence that feels both devotional and defiant. Jan Agha’s universe of iconography is a canon mythology of our time. His figures, painted in thick oils and raw mixed media, oscillate between the sacred and the comic, the mystical and the absurd. Drawing on Persian traditions yet refusing cultural conformity, Agha carves out a hybrid pantheon of deities that are at once fleshly and spiritual, humorous and tragic.   His gestures are devotional in their intensity but rebellious in their refusal to conform. …

Since 2021, he performs as a cellist with the Arod Quartet in the most prestigious venues around the world. Anna-Li HardelAnna-Li Hardel is a young French violinist who graduated from the Paris National Conservatory, specializing in violin and chamber music. She benefited from Jean-Marc Phillips and Louis Rodde’s teaching. A winner of several international competitions, she is passionate about chamber music and performs on French stages with the Lazuli piano trio. This trio has received awards and is supported by the Safran Foundation and the Maurice Ravel International Academy. This performance is part of Ping Pong’s 10th anniversary programme which also includes Hongkong/Japan, an exhibition dedicated to the longstanding connection between Hongkong and Japan.

Starting with the work of Eika Kato, who painted here in the 1910 and 20s, and Bernard Leach, the renowned 20th-century potter who was born in Hong Kong and journeyed to Japan to learn his craft, the show goes on to contemporary artists and designers working in Hong Kong. So too is the whole universe.” Marcus Aurelius, ‘Meditations’ John Batten initially began photographing seriously to provide images to accompany his own writing as an art critic, writer on architecture, culture, and politics, and as an urban planning activist*. His photographs have been published in many publications, including the South China Morning Post, Ming Pao Weekly, Perspective, Artco Monthly (Taiwan), Artomity, Asia Literary Review, Yishu, and The Peak magazine.    Over the last twenty years he has increasingly photographed Hong Kong’s urban landscape and the always changing human interventions on the city’s streets. His initial motivation to photograph was pure documentation – to capture moments of beauty, ugliness, intrigue, irony, and oddity. This is her third collaboration with Ping Pong. The performances are part of the Art Basel Hong Kong 2022’s VIP programme.
