Saturday, September 2112 – 8pm Following highly successful South Island Art Days over the past 5 years, SICD promises an exciting and varied program including art exhibitions in 13 art spaces, giving visitors the opportunity to attend exhibition openings, interact with local and international artists, experience contemporary art, performances, as well as enjoy free food and drink from our south side partners. Beside the indoor art activities, we will run an outdoor installation program. Around 10 local and international artists will install interactive pieces in the streets of Wong Chuk Hang. Visitors will therefore be able to experience more art from different artists going from one gallery to another. 29 March 201910am –2pm 16 of the South Island Cultural District (SICD) galleries and artist studios open their doors as part of Art Basel Hong Kong and Art Central VIP Programmes. Yet this exceptional event is also open to the general public and the admission is free. The exhibition features 15 works inspired by the artist’s 2017 Travel Residency in China, which included glaze research and site visits in Jingdezhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Many of the works are inspired by ancient Chinese masterpieces, traditions and discoveries that the artist made on his travels.   Stöhrer’s quirky, colourful vessels take on various shapes and sizes, and are united by a fluidity that defies their weight. The application and balance of colour are central to the artist’s creative process. Stöhrer has created and continues to perfect his own personal alchemy of glazing. Following highly successful South Island Art Days over the past five years, this year the South Island Cultural District (SICD) is teaming up with the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA) to host an even more exciting event. SICD and the HKAGA promise an exciting, varied programme including exhibitions in 13 art spaces, giving visitors the opportunity to attend openings, interact with local and international artists, join guided tours and further experience the diversity of contemporary art through performances and outdoor installations. Admission to the Art Day is free and each participating gallery is offering complimentary food and drinks from our local partners. Following highly successful South Island Art Days over the past four years, the SICD is expecting more than 2,000 local and international art lovers to attend the event, held at Hong Kong’s new destination for contemporary art.
