South Island Art Day on March 29

The South Island Cultural District (SICD) galleries and artist studios will open their doors on March 29 as part of the Art Basel HK and Art Central VIP programmes, an event that is also open to the general public with free admission.

Following highly successful South Island Art Days over the past four years, the SICD is expecting more than 2,000 local and international art lovers to attend the event, held at Hong Kong’s new destination for contemporary art.

Art Day Programme

Indoor Exhibitions and Performances
SICD promises an exciting, varied programme including art exhibitions in 17 spaces, giving visitors the opportunity to attend openings, interact with local and international artists, experience contemporary art and performances by Yeung Siu Fong and JonOne, and enjoy free food and drink from our local partners.

Outdoor Installations
SICD will also run an outdoor installation programme featuring works by Christy Chow, Loiix Fung, Valéry Grancher and David Boyce.

Art World Forum
This year SICD again partners with the Art World Forum to host a series of talks at L’Hotel South from 10am to 2pm. Prestigious international and local speakers will cover a variety of topics related to art.

About the South Island Cultural District (SICD)
Founded in 2013, SICD currently consists of 19 galleries and art spaces in the South Island areas of Wong Chuk Hang and Tin Wan. With the exception of Central, no other district in Hong Kong hosts so many high-quality galleries, and no other district has so many galleries in large industrial spaces. SICD is a major evolution of the Hong Kong art scene, and South Island has become Hong Kong’s new destination for contemporary art.
